In emergencies call 999
The priority of all West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service staff working here in Bradford District is to make the District a safer place to live and work. We do this primarily through prevention activities such as ‘Safe and Well’ checks in people’s homes and through Fire Safety visits to workplaces. In addition, we train hard to ensure that when required, our response to fires and other emergencies is highly professional and effective.
We have set out plans to prioritise our services in the community over the coming year and we would encourage you to take a look at these plans in detail.
Bradford District Action Plan 2019/20
Your Fire and Rescue Service 2020-2023
We will ensure our resources are targeted to the areas and people of highest risk to ensure the greatest effectiveness in reducing the numbers of fires and other incidents. One of our highest priorities continues to be to work with our key partners, including: Bradford Metropolitan District Council, West Yorkshire Police, Incommunities Housing Association and partners in Health, to lower risks from fire and other dangers to vulnerable members of our community.
Our priorities are to:
Bradford district is in the north west of the county. It covers an area of approximately 140 square miles and has a population of more than 500,000.
It is ethnically, culturally and geographically diverse. Bradford district is also an economically challenged area, containing a large range of social-economic groups from the wealthy to the very deprived.
These factors create a wide variety of risk profiles which we must monitor carefully through operational staff in conjunction with a dedicated community safety team and fire safety department. Much of the effectiveness of the district’s community safety strategy lies in the links with our partners, including Bradford District Council, West Yorkshire Police, housing associations and the voluntary sector.
