Halifax fire service personnel are committed to improving the service delivered to the local community and the people of West Yorkshire. There is a population of 69,483 and the area incorporates 29,072 dwellings. The service is enhanced by continued training, improved communications and better inter-agency co-ordination. The team is made up of a station commander and 48 firefighters.
Co-operation is encouraged between the key partners to make West Yorkshire safer. Training sessions have been introduced with partners in other agencies and staff meet on a regular basis with the Neighbourhood Policing Teams. These partners assist us by identifying people at risk, providing referrals and assisting vulnerable members of society in the area. Personnel continue to engage in community activity and attend neighbourhood forums, partnership meetings and local projects (fun/information days).
The fire station was built in 1970 and borders with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
