Illingworth Fire Station, built in 1956, is situated to the north of Halifax. It covers a mainly residential area of 16,951 dwellings and has a population of 40,617. The team is made up of a station commander (who also manages Halifax) and 24 firefighters. The staff work hard to reduce the risk for the community of north Halifax through community safety and partnership work. The team is also actively involved in raising money for The Firefighters Charity through car washes and district events. The Personnel Welfare Unit which is stationed at Illingworth provides welfare support for operational crews.
