The fire is now out, with two crews and supporting units at the scene damping down using an aerial ladder and large jets. 

One person was rescued from the building conscious and breathing and left in the care of ambulance colleagues. All other people were accounted for.

We'd like to thank the public and our partner agencies for their support during this incident. We'd also like to praise our firefighters who worked tirelessly and contained this blaze.

When the building has been assessed as safe we will be working to determine the cause of the fire.

 

Update 16:00

Crews have withdrawn from the building due to fears around the stability of the structure, with four crews remaining at the scene. Crews are still using a large jet and the aerial ladder on the building.

Update 14.30

Six crews, plus an aerial ladder appliance are now at the scene alonside supporting units. The fire is still burning and firefighters are using breathing apparatus, hose reels and large jets to tackle it.

Firefighters are currently dealing with a derelict building fire in the Barkerend Road area of Bradford.

Crews from four stations are using large jets, breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the flames.

Local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed and avoid the area where possible.
