Public encouraged to have their say on future of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

The county's residents urged to help shape future of fire service

Have your say

Residents of West Yorkshire are being urged to have their say and help shape the future of the region’s fire service.

People who live in the county are asked to contribute to West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Community Risk Management Plan for 2022-25, via a simple public survey released today.

“The needs of our community are at the forefront of everything we do, so as we look to update our current plan, it’s important to hear what the people of West Yorkshire want from their fire and rescue service,” said Nick Smith, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Assistant Chief Fire Officer.

“Known as ‘Your Fire and Rescue Service 2020-23, our Community Risk Management Plan sets out how we plan to protect homes, families, communities, businesses and countryside across our diverse region in the coming years. It outlines how we prevent fires and other emergencies and make West Yorkshire safer. We want to know which of our services are important to people and what they feel should be our key priorities.

“We have responded to the many challenges of recent years, including helping our community and partners throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and during major flooding and wildfires, and we want to ensure we continue to provide that risk protection in the future in the best way possible.

“We are constantly looking to improve our service through innovation and use of new technology so that we can deliver the best and achieve our ambition of Making West Yorkshire Safer. We hope people will take the opportunity to answer a few simple questions with our online survey, share their views and get their voices heard.

The survey takes a few minutes to complete and is open until 13 February. To take part visit www.wyfs.co.uk.
