The station is managed by a station commander who is also responsible for Holmfirth and Skelmanthorpe Fire Stations. Meltham is staffed by a full time local retained support officer and retained firefighters who operate the ‘on call’ retained duty system. The fire station at Meltham is one of the village focal points, with the station and crew taking part in many activities through the year. At such events the crew are always available for fire safety and general fire protection advice helping to keep the risk in the area very low.
