Reports of a house on fire, on arrival this was a kitchen fire, 2 hose reels and 4 breathing apparatus used, minor injuries to occupant of the house.

We received a call at 00.23 to reports of a fire at a waste management company.

We initially sent ten crews, however this was quickly scaled back to five.

All residents in the local area are being asked to keep doors and windows shut due to smoke and other possible toxicity in the air.

 

UPDATE: 07:00 all our crews have now left the scene. Residents are advised to continue to keep doors and windows shut while the smoke cloud clears.

It comes as new figures released by WYFRS show the service attended 18 fatal crashes on West Yorkshire’s roads in the last year.

We are in attendance at an industrial incident involving a crane on Riverside Way, Leeds.

The area has been cleared of people - access is restricted and road closures are in place.

We have two crews from Leeds Fire Station at the scene.

 

UPDATE 17.30 -  The structure has been made safe and all of our crews are now leaving the scene.

UPDATE: 18:00 - Our Technical Rescue Unit are now at the scene - and plan to remain there until the cordon is lifted.

Nine crews are in attendance at a fire at a business premise on Bradford Road in the Otley area, after we were called at 19.30 tonight.

Residents nearby are being asked to keep their doors and windows shut due to a smoke plume.

Operational support crews including an aerial ladder (from Leeds), welfare unit and command unit are also in attendance.

 

UPDATE: 08:00 (12/11/23) Three crews remain at the scene damping down the fire. There is still a large amount of smoke in the area so residents are being asked to continue to keep doors and windows shut.

As we head towards bonfire season, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) wants to ensure your celebrations are both fun and safe.

We are currently in attendance at a large building fire on Colne Vale Road, Huddersfield. 

10 fire engines and other fire support appliances are currently at the scene. There are no persons reported in the building.

Those in the surrounding area are advised to keep their windows and doors closed; due to the smoke. 

Please avoid the area where possible.
