Fire service called to a large oven on fire within carpet manufacturing warehouse in Heckmondwike area. Building is 1 floor, measuring 100m x 50m. 10% of building involved with an exposure risk to 2 sides. Crews used 1 large jet, 1 hose reel and 4 breathing apparatus to extinguish fire. Crews requested a total of 5 pumps for person power.
Crews are in attendance at a large wildfire in the Long Lee area of Keighley with the first attendance being on Tuesday evening. Reports from nearby residents reported large amounts of smoke and fire near to Harden Moor. Crews confirmed the fire, involving heather, measured approximately 200m x 200m. 3 sectors, 4 hose reels, 2 large jets and fire fogger used by crews to extinguish fire. Fire still currently ongoing with crews in attendance.
A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We are still in attendance at a wildfire on Marsden Moor which was contained overnight and now measures approximately 200m by 150m. Today firefighters will be damping down hot spots. Crews currently in attendance are Huddersfield, Shipley, Dewsbury and Huslet with wildfire support from Slaithwaite.
1 casualty rescued from water by fire service after their car entered the canal at Lock Lane, Altofts. The vehicle was submerged and remains in the water until recovery can be arranged.
Mid-terraced domestic property fire involving 1st floor and attic. 6 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels and 1 large jet used to extinguish fire and exposure risk to sides. Aerial appliances also requested due to fire in attic. Support pump for aerial used as fourth appliance. Fire investigation officer mobilised due to multiple seats of fire and to determine cause of fire.
A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We have received several calls this morning to flames being seen on Marsden Moor near Deer Hill. It is thought the area has reignited following last week's fires in that area. Crews currently in attendance are wildfire specialists from Slaithwaite, Skelmanthorpe, Todmorden and Holmfirth. The all-terrain Polaris is also in attendance and firefighters are using beaters and blowers to help extinguish the flames of the burning area, which measures 50 square meters.
Reports of smoke coming from a flat on the 2nd floor above a commercial premise. Incident confirmed by crews to be a domestic property fire. Police in attendance due to nature of the incident. Yorkshire electricity board also requested to isolate the internal supply. 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel used to extinguish fire.
Firefighters are currently in attendance at Marsden Moor after an area reignited earlier today.
