We currently have ten crews in attendance at a building fire on Town Street in Batley. This response also includes two aerial ladder appliances.

This is a three storey derelict mill, measuring 100m by 30m. The building is 50% involved in flame.

Crews are using large jets and hose reel jets to tackle the flames.

Those in the local area are being asked to avoid Town Street if possible and keep doors and windows shut.

We were called to an incident at 05:16am, on the 21/10/24, to reports of a house fire on Haighside Close in Rothwell, Leeds.

Fire Appliances in Attendance: Rothwell x1, Hunslet x1, Leeds x1.

West Yorkshire Police and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were in attendance.

Ground floor flat, bathroom involved.  Crews used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel to extinguish the fire.  Ambulance requested for occupant suffering from smoke inhalation.  Smoke alarms were fitted and working at the time of the incident.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) has teamed up with national charity TyreSafe to offer free tyre safety checks at our charity car wash events.

Reports of a person stuck 35 feet down a banking.  On arrival, crews found the casualty had managed to make their way         towards the nearby track whereby attending crews could get them onto a stretcher in order to get them to safety, and into the awaiting ambulance.

2 cars involved with 1 person trapped. Extrication carried out by fire service and left in hands of paramedics.

Fire involved in roof of 8 storey unoccupied apartment block.  

Ten fire engines and two aerial appliances are in attendance.
